about
sedation dentistry
...
If you know your
smile needs help, but fear, bad experiences, sensitive teeth or aversion
to needles has kept you from getting the care you deserve, then sedation
dentistry is for you!
The most important
thing to understand up front is that dental fear is far more common than
you imagine. 1 out of 2 Americans do not seek dental care, mostly is due
to fear. You are not alone, and we are the answer.
Dental Sedation,
(the technical term is "conscious sedation"), is safe and painless.
Anxiety is controlled by a sedative given in pill form, and patients
routinely become drowsy, and doze though their appointments. We exhaust
all efforts to assure you are relaxed, comfortable, and 100% satisfied.
This is what Sedation Dentistry is all about. Comfort, Relaxation, and
Improved Dental Health.

Sedation Dentistry
It Really Works! You really can relax through your dental appointment.
It Is Safe! Our team will give you a small pill prior to treatment. You
will have little or no memory of the experience. You probably won't
remember any sounds or smells. You will relax for up to five or six
hours after taking the pill. The time you are relaxing will vary
depending on your needed treatment. Complex dental treatments that often
require six to eight appointments, can be done in as little as one! All
while you relax. People who have difficulty getting numb will find that
relax dentistry eliminates this problem. Sedation Dentistry is a safe
way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatment requiring long
visits.

How does Sedation Dentistry
work?
You will be given a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental
appointment. Your companion will accompany you to the office. By the
time you arrive, you will be very drowsy. When you arrive in our office,
you will be escorted into the comfort room, covered with a thick, warm
blanket and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. After you are
comfortable, our experienced clinical team will take care of your dental
needs. When your treatment is completed, your companion will return you
home to finish your comfortable, relaxing day.
Will my visit really be painless?
Yes, it will be totally pain free! No dental treatment actually starts
until you are completely relaxed in a state of consious sedation.

How many visits will I need?
Because you are so relaxed and usually sleeping we can often make up for
years of missed treatment in one visit!
Is it safe?
It is completely safe. On your first visit Xrays and a non invasive exam
will be done. Also a complete medical history will be taken to ensure
that you are ready for treatment. During your sedation visit your vital
signs are constantly being monitered by a dental team member, and
although you will be in a dreamy state, you will never be unconsious.
Can I drive afterward?
No, you will need to have a companion drive you to and from your
sedation appointment. You can come by yourself for your initial
consultation appointment, or you can bring a spouse or friend to that
first appointment as well.
Do I need to rest when I get
home?
Yes, you will probably sleep for 3-6 hours when you get home and when
you wake up, you will have no memory of your appointment.

What if I am not really fearful? Can it still be used for me?
Dream Dentistry can be used for any patient who desires to be totally
anxiety free during denal treatment. We also use it for a patient who
has a long visit scheduled and would rather dream through it than just
be numb.
